About Alma Caribe Dallas
Alma Caribe Dallas is a folkloric ensemble dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and sharing the musical traditions of Colombia's Caribbean coast and Afro-Colombian heritage.
Inspired by the documentary Alma Caribe, which explored the vibrant folklore, music, instrument makers, and cultural traditions of Colombia's Caribbean region, a group of musicians, artists, and cultural advocates came together in Dallas with a shared vision: to keep these traditions alive and accessible for future generations.
Through live performances, workshops, cultural events, and community engagement, Alma Caribe creates opportunities for people of all backgrounds to experience the rhythms, stories, and traditions that have shaped Colombia's coastal identity. From the sounds of the gaita, tambora, alegre, and llamador to the energy of dance and celebration, our goal is to connect people through culture, education, and shared experiences.
Our ensemble brings together musicians from diverse regions of Colombia, as well as members from outside Colombia who share a passion for learning and preserving these traditions. Together, we celebrate the richness of Colombian folklore while building bridges between cultures throughout North Texas and beyond.
Whether you're reconnecting with your roots, discovering Colombian culture for the first time, attending a performance, participating in a workshop, or supporting our mission, we invite you to become part of the Alma Caribe community.
